Bruneian Short Story: Everything but You

Image
We have made a video in support for KI 7, featuring our very own Kertas Hati (Sarah Sarah Hj Abd Mutalif and Happy birthday to Sarah!!), as well as our newly elected president Joshua Jayasuriya. It was shot by the amazing Wan Fida'iy Hamidon and um Md Mustaqim. Also a big thank to you, Aizat Harith, Muiz Umar and Adibah Hhm for agreeing to act in this video! "When it comes to defending our wants and desires, we have a lot of TAPI...in our lives. So that raises one question, when have we ever made a 'tapi' to all these other things that we have never tried or experienced?" I'll close with this verse from the Qu'ran: "And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew." [Al-`Ankabūt: 64] -Mu'izz Khalid

Just a reminder that this is not a phenomenon to be celebrated, rather one that is to be feared as it is a sign of the Day of Judgement. Maybe we be in Allah's graces always. BruSheff Tahlil Gathering

Image
BruSheff held a Tahlil Gathering yesterday, the 18th of March 2015, as a means to further strengthen the ties between the Bruneians as well as to commemorate those who are no longer with us. The event followed with a short reminder from our RO, Hirzie Hasni, in which he reminded us of the importance of our parents and how we should treat them, especially during our student life in the UK. Spoopy Smirk

As a follow-up to the video submission made by WarnerBees, the BruSheff team, for the BruLeics Online Video Competition, a few other BruSheff members decided to make a spoof video detailing a rather different side of the story, in a bid to support the BruSheff team. The video is a spoof, thus it is an independent piece of work and is not endorsed by WarnerBees.

BruSheff AGM Announcement

it's finally March! You know what that means? Its finally time for the long-awaited BruSheff Annual General Meeting 2015! It will be held In sya Allah on Sunday, the 22nd of March 2015, unless its not a feasible date for the candidates in which we will move it to Sunday, the 29th of March 2015. Some of you may be wondering, what is an Annual General Meeting? I'll keep it as AGM for short, and its basically a formal(or informal) society meetin g in which the new working committee will be elected for the next academic session. The procedure follows as explained below: - Positions will be open to nomination. Those who are interested in applying for any open positions can do so by sending an email to our society email. This will be further explained in a bit. - You can only nominate YOURSELF! No anonymous nominations will be entertained. This is to ensure those who are applying are doing so because they want to. - The nominated people will then have to prepare a short speech...

BruLeics Online Video Competition 2015

Image
Its that time of year again! The BruLeics Online Video Competition is a competition held annually by the BruLeics Society in which participants are required to compose a video around a set topic. This year's theme is "Home". A few BruSheff members took part in this competition to express what "Home" means to them, especially given the current situation of them being students and living in the UK. The short movie highlights the importance of ties with other Bruneians as they are considered our family when we are living abroad, as well as some subtle product placement.
