Constitution

     Aims and Objectives:

a) To promote studying in the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University to Bruneians and serve as an official representative for the two universities.

b) To serve as a focal point for current and prospective Bruneian students studying in Sheffield.

c) To monitor students' welfare and education and promote an active environment for its members through social activities and gatherings.

d) To enhance awareness about Brunei Darussalam by promoting the Bruneian tradition and culture to other students of different nationalities and backgrounds.

     Membership:

a) Membership of the society is opened to all individuals regardless of nationality, race, religion or social background who take an interest in the society.

b) Membership fee shall be decided at the start of every new academic year by the committee.

c) Existing members are required to renew their membership fees at the start of every new academic year.

d) Membership fees are non-refundable and it costs GBP 8.00 per person.

     Annual General Meeting and Election:

a) The annual general meeting for the society is to be held during Easter of each year.

b) Election of new committee is to be held during the annual general meeting via a voting process.


     The Committee:

a) President  
Spokesperson and figurehead of the society. He or she holds the overall responsibility and has the active role of ensuring the aims and objectives of the society are met with the help from the committee and its members. The president also acts as a chairperson in every meeting. He or she must make sure that every decision is agreed by the committee and the outcomes of the meeting is informed to the society members. It is his or her responsibility to maintain the committee enthusiasm and keep giving motivation and inspiration to them

b) Vice President / Inclusion Officer
He or she has the responsibility to assist the president in the running of the society and making sure that the committee is run smoothly. He or she also served as the acting president in case the president is unable to attend or initiate events. It is also his or her responsibility to include everyone in all events so that people will feel that they belong to the society.

c) Secretary
He or she has the responsibility for the general administration of the society. The secretary is in charge of preparing the minutes of meetings and keeping the society records. He or she is also responsible to get in touch and maintain the relationship of the society with other international societies.

d) Treasurer
He or she has the responsibility of managing the financial accounts of the society. The treasurer must know how to do budgeting and he or she is responsible for keeping records of the expenditure of the society and serve as a financial advisor for the society.               

e) Webmaster / Information Officer
He or she has the responsibility of keeping members of the society well informed of new information and forthcoming events via newsletter and the society’s website of which is managed and continually developed by the webmaster.


f) Logistic Officer
He or she has the responsibility of implementing planned events by assessing the logistic requirements of the events, which includes the venue, equipment needed and etc. The logistics and planning officer is also in charge of keeping the equipment of the society.

g) Social and Welfare Officer
He or she has the responsibility of assisting members of the society in dealing with student welfare issues and serve as a focal point for prospective students of Sheffield. Shall organize social functions, visit, trips and etc, he or she is responsible to look after the society and making sure that everyone is safe.

h) Sports Officer 
He or she has the responsibility of encouraging sports activities in the society by arranging regular sports sessions. The sports officer shall also be aware of other sports activities outside of Sheffield and shall consult the committee for participation.

i) Male Religious Officer He has the responsibility of managing the religious activities of the society. The male religious officer is also responsible for keeping track of the Islamic calendar and shall consult the committee on proposed religious activities. Keep updating the society on the prayer times and also responsible in handling the Quranic Circle (QC) and at the same time show the society the true beauty of Islam.  


j) Female Religious Officer
She has the responsibility of managing the religious activities of the society. The female religious officer is also responsible for keeping track of the Islamic calendar and shall consult the committee on proposed religious activities. Keep updating the society on the prayer times and also responsible in handling the Quranic Circle (QC) and at the same time show the society the true beauty of Islam.
