Charity Spring Cleaning Clothes Drive
Recently, BruSheff has participated in a collaborative charity event for Bruneian Societies within the UK. Other Bruneian Societies include BruLeics, BruBath, BruStol, BruWick, LufBru, BruManch, BruKeele, BruSton and groups from Reading, London and Durham. The Charity Spring Cleaning Clothes Drive is organized by Syukrina Roselan. Dk. Nur Qamarina Pg Luba, the vice president, has been delegated the person-in-charge for BruSheff.
The BruSheff committee has appointed dates or time-slots for people to come in and distribute their donations, specifically the 14th & 17th of April, and Opal 2 common room as it's location. The committee has also considered for the people who could not come to any of these dates, they could instead distribute it privately at different time and location. This will enable people who lives rather far away to easily give in their donations.
After the handing in of the donations, BruSheff has received:
142 shirts,
56 pants,
31 jackets,
23 pair of shoes,
1 jubah,
56 scarves,
19 winter clothing,
2 pairs of socks,
2 watches,
9 bags,
7 pairs of gloves,
3 hats,
3 belts,
1 shirt-and-shorts set,
3 tudongs,
5 skirts,
2 duvets
and 1 clothing iron
Giving a total of substantially 366 items.
Following this, Syukrina Roselan has assigned the 21st of April 2013 at 1.30pm to be the date and time for all the Bruneian Societies to simultaneously distribute the donations to a local charity. BruSheff has distributed their donations at a local charity called Families Relief. This particular charity focuses on mainly building family foundations and has been working for 19 years to help the needy worldwide including Gaza, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Africa, Libya and Bangladesh. The charity is run by Abdool Kadir, a trustee for families' relief, and it was through him the committee has distributed the donations to.
