BruSheff Society

BruSheff celebrated the New Year 2016 with a gathering filled with fun and games. The night included a countdown at midnight to mark the start of the new year and some of us even made new year resolutions! (that we most probably won't keep ;p) BruSheff would like to wish a very happy New Year 2016!

Assalamualaikum semua sukacita ingin mengkongsikan bahawa Majlis Keberangkatan Junjung Ziarah 2015 akan berlangsung pada 13 December 2015 bersamaan 2 Rabiulawal 1437, Hari Ahad bertempat d London Hilton Hotel. Sila maklumkan semua pelajar pelajar yang berhajat untuk hadir supaya mendaftar secara online melalui mbr.upp.org.uk bermula pada hari ini. Members of BruSheff went out to the Disney On Ice spectacle that was held in Sheffield on the 18th of November 2015. Here are some pics of them :)

Members of BruSheff took part in the Annual RAG Spiderwalk, organised by University of Sheffield Raising And Giving. The proceeds from the event were distributed to charities of individual societies' choices. Spiderwalk, the BIGGEST RAG event of the year, is back with a bang! The classic annual 13 mile night hike through the Peak District.

ATTENTION TO ALL: As we have received a lot of queries regarding an insufficient number of players in a team. We decided to make an 'open' team suggestion; in which people who wish to participate but do not have enough players to form a team, can fill in the Open Team form. This applies only for DODGEBALL! We will be in charge of grouping the players but please do mention any preferences you would like i.e. I want to be teamed up with *full name*, in the box provided. BruSheff celebrated the Awal Tahun Hijrah 1437H last Tuesday, the 13th of October 2015, at the common room of New Bank House, Sheffield. There was a mass recital of Do'a Akhir Tahun, followed by a mass Maghrib prayer, after which everyone recited Yaasin and Tahlil, to commemorate family members and those who are no longer with us. The event then ended with dinner.

BruSheff held its annual Ice-Breaking gathering and Amazing Race competition, held mainly for the juniors of BruSheff as a way for them to get acquainted with the other juniors and members of the BruSheff Society. The Amazing Race that followed soon after spanned the whole of Sheffield City and the University Area, and mimics that of the actual Amazing Race where teams follow clues to different landmarks of the city, where they must complete challenges to get the next clue. The reason behind holding the Amazing Race is such that the juniors can familiarise themselves to the locations of certain landmarks in the city to better help them get around.

BruSheff held a Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration last Saturday, the 3rd of October 2015, at the common room of New Bank House, Sheffield. The event began with a short tazkirah which was led by Hafiz and Hirzie, after which there was a group photo followed by lunch.

BruSheff held a pre-departure briefing to welcome the juniors for the coming academic year, as well as to prep them for their upcoming studies in the UK. The gathering was held at The Brew Cafe & Bakery  in Gadong Central on the 5th of September.

A few BruSheff members went for a hike at Bukit Shahbandar last Wednesday, the 19th August 2015. This is just one of the many things BruSheff members do in terms of gatherings in Brunei over the summer holidays.

About 40 or so BruSheff members happily graduated from the University of Sheffield during Graduation Week which commenced on the 20th of July till the 24th of July 2015, held at the Octagon Centre of the Students Union of The University of Sheffield. One of the graduates' brother, Mamad, even made a video detailing their graduation ceremony. Be sure to check it out below as it is quite a good piece of work by a talented Bruneian to say the least!

Members of BruSheff that stayed in the UK over the summer holidays, mainly the Leavers, held a sungkai gathering in accordance with Ramadhan. They even made a short video about their get-together. Be sure to check it out!

BruSheff held its Annual Leavers Dinner last Saturday, to commemorate the Leavers of 2014/15 for all the support, experience, and guidance that they have provided for those of us who are still studying in the UK. The event started with the recital of do'a followed by a couple of speeches made by the President and Vice-President of BruSheff. The night proceeded with games, certificate presentation to all the Leavers, as well as dinner after which a video was played which detailed the Leavers' experiences and our final sendoff messages to them. BruSheff wishes all the Leavers a successful future with good health. Remember, once a BruSheff-ian, always a BruSheff-ian!
